The ex-Beatles copy of the famous album, which he stowed in a London bank vault for over 35 years, is numbered 0000001 – despite it being long assumed that John Lennon owned the first copy.

Julien’s Auctions, which is based in Beverly Hills and will take of the sale, estimates the record could fetch up to $60,000 when it goes under the hammer early next month. Copy No 0000005 of the album sold at an auction in 2008 for around $30,000.
