Four agents from the Secret Service have been seriously injured in New Hampshire following a head-on collision. Wakefield is about 25 south of Conway.
Danforth’s passengers, Kristina Buswell, 21, and Natasha Meroski, 35, were taken to hospitals and treated for undisclosed injuries, the police said.
The Clinton campaign traveled between Portsmouth and Berlin on Tuesday afternoon, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. All four are believed to be employed in field offices in the New England area.
Both state and local police are handling the investigation.

It’s unclear if the agents – who were all on duty – were assigned to the Hillary Clinton campaign, but Clinton’s motorcade passed by the crash site hours before the deadly collision, reports ABC affiliate WMUR-TV. “We are grateful every day for the service, dedication, and professionalism of the U.S. Secret Service”, said Clinton in a statement.
In 2012, an undercover agent struck and killed a Brooklyn mother of five.
The Secret Service did not immediately respond to inquiries on Wednesday morning.
State Police Lt. Kevin Duffy said there was no evidence the agents had done anything to cause the accident. And 30 years ago, three agents protecting Queen Elizabeth II died when their vehicle was hit by a sheriff’s cruiser in Yosemite National Park.
