After defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 93-84 on New Year’s Day, the Los Angeles Lakers looked to remain undefeated in 2016 as they take on their division rivals in the Phoenix Suns.

Kobe Bryant sat out his second straight game because of a sore right shoulder, the same one he had surgery on last January to fix a torn rotator cuff.

Kobe Bryant talks about how much he hates Boston Celtics green and how he cherished beating the Celtics in the NBA Finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Phoenix Suns tonight at Staples Center. The 17-time All-Star is averaging 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 30.4 minutes per game this season.

“He just needs more time and he’ll get that”, Scott said, “His experience with just being in school for four years I think absolutely helps him out”. However, no player may have done more wearing two different numbers than Bryant has.

It was a far different story than December 1, when the 76ers ended a record 28-game losing streak with a 103-91 decision over the Lakers in Philadelphia. Jordan Clarkson scored 24 points and Lou Williams had 19 as Los Angeles stopped a four-game slide. The Sixers shot slightly worse at a 36.9 percent clip.

The 76ers led by five in the first quarter, when they shot 50 percent from the floor and owned a 16-2 edge in the paint.

The Clippers pulled away to a 69-52 lead with a 26-12 run to end the first half.

Chris Paul added 15 points and 14 assists while setting up Jordan for some highlight-reel dunks that excited the sellout crowd against an opponent with the NBA’s worst record. “Compare that figure to last season, when the Lakers had lost 72 games due to injury through 20 games, according to Stotts’ data”.

“The ankle is all good”.

To match up with Nance at power forward, the Sixers went with the same lineup they had Wednesday in a victory at Sacramento. “Adrenaline is a powerful thing”.

The Lakers held a 62-60 lead after three quarters, and the two teams had COMBINED to shoot 67 percent from the field.

“He was thinking about getting on ESPN with one of the top plays”, Scott said, chuckling. “I think the guys have bought into that finally”.

“He told me this story about how a lion seeks food, whatever he’s gonna kill and eat”, Thomas said. “I see everything. I see the future”.

Rookie Anthony Brown started in Bryant’s place at small forward and had five points in 22 minutes. However, that will change soon if Bryant becomes healthier; an issue Scott believed will not require him to become cautious. That said, Knight is still healthy and still very capable of torching the Lakers for the second time this season.
