EU and Australia-regulated forex broker XM said on Monday it has made Usain Bolt, the fastest human ever, a brand ambassador. The broker has signed a three-year agreement with the athlete under which Bolt will promote the XM brand.
“Similar to XM, my focus has always been to be the fastest”, Bolt was cited as saying during the official announcement. “I’m happy to enter into a partnership with the award-winning forex and CFD broker XM. XM and I have similar brand values and aim to be the best at what we do,” he noted.
Bolt is a Jamaican-born sprinter with nine gold Olympic medals and 11 world championships titles. He holds several world records for 100 metres and 200 metres. His personal best (and a world record) is 9.58 seconds for 100 metres, earning him the nickname Lightning Bolt.
On its part, XM provides ultra-fast execution with 99.35% of all trades executed in less than 1 second.
“Usain Bolt is XM and XM is Usain Bolt,” Chris Anthony Zacharia, marketing director of XM Group, said. “We both represent the same principles and brand values – just in different arenas. In the same way as Usain’s speed and passion have made him the man he is today, speed and passion have made XM the brand it is today,” he added.
The broker offers trading in more than 50 forex pairs and in contracts for difference (CFDs) on commodities, equity indices, metals and energies via the web-based, desktop and mobile versions of the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform.
XM, formerly known as XEMarkets, is a trading brand of Trading Point Holdings. The broker is licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). It is also awaiting licensing from the Financial Services Board (FSB) of South Africa.
Also on Monday, London Capital Group (LCG), another forex brokerage, announced a partnership with Swiss pro tennis player Stan Wawrinka, currently No.3 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking. In addition, many ForexMart recently announced a partnership with Slovakian ice hockey team Zvolen and Danish forex bank Saxo Bank partnered with F1 driver Romain Grosjean to promote its mobile trading platform.
Most brokers usually choose to sponsor European football teams.
However, just last week, the French parliament passed a bill that bans the advertising of risky financial instruments (read binary options and CFDs), which also prohibits sponsorship of sports teams by forex and binary options brokers.
