In a notice about upgrade of iOS application for the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform, its developer Metaquotes announced that currently more than 160 brokers around the world support the MT5 platform. Those companies use the platform to offer trading in various financial instruments, such as forex, stocks, futures, CFDs and cryptocurrencies.
Furthermore, the clients of those brokerages are now provided with a broader view into the market statistics of instruments traded in exchange execution mode on their iOS devices. In order to view the statistics, traders simply need to open the menu of any symbol in Market Watch, and select ‘Statistics’.
After years of standing in the shadow of its more popular predecessor MT4, in the last year or so, the popularity of MetaTrader 5 has been growing steadily since the hedging option was finally added to it, as well as number of other enhancements made by its developer to all versions of the platform. Earlier this year, positions history has been added to both Android and iOS MT5 apps. In June, brokerage software developer AMTS Solutions released MT5 integration gateway, which enables the integration of the platform with liquidity providers.
The latest forex brokers to launch trading on MT5 were IFC Markets and VTB24 Forex. Another set of forex brokers have adopted the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) multi-asset trading platform in April, 2017 – XM, IC Markets and HTotal. Some of the prominent names among the forex brokers that also support the MT5 include FxPro, Alpari, FXTM, FxChoice, Admiral Markets, and others.
MT5 is a multi-asset trading platform that offers access to various financial markets, including those for forex, contracts for difference (CFDs), options and futures markets, as well as stocks. The platform uses MQL5 programming language and allows automated trading via Expert Advisors (EAs). The platform allows four types of order execution – Instant, Request, Market and Exchange.
