Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox went on Jimmy Kimmel this week to show off the new Nike Mags, the company’s first self-lacing sneakers that will be available in 2016.

In the film, October 22, 2015, is the date which McFly arrives in the future from 1985 and finds there are hovering skateboards and flying cars.

On Wednesday, October 21, in a coordinated effort with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), Nike presented the first pair of futuristic shoes to Michael J. Fox.

Amid all the chatter surrounding the Back to the Future movies this week, a new book takes fans behind the scenes of the beloved trilogy.

Nike’s tweet had fans exclaiming “great Scott!” on social media over the possibility that the shoes are on the way.

Nike released 1,500 pairs of the footwear without the self-lacing technology in 2011. A year later, an amateur investor created self-tightening laces, originally meant to help the elderly or disabled, through Kickstarter.
