Nakal was one of four people left dead after a vehicle plowed through a barricade Saturday morning at the Oklahoma State University Homecoming parade. Dozens more were injured in the collision that sent a few spectators flying through the air.
The 25-year-old was reportedly fired from her part-time job at Stillwater’s Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, leaving the fast food chain in tears, Justin Denoya told the Stillwater News Press.
“There was a period where I think that for a lack a better term, she might’ve blacked out”, he said.
In addition to the four deaths, more than 30 were injured. Gibbs said Chambers’ Hyundai Elantra struck an unoccupied motorcycle of an officer who was working security at the parade, then went into the crowd. McNitt told reporters the crash was like a bomb going off. “The screaming… and a lot of chaos”.
Coleman also said Chambers, who had been at work before the crash, doesn’t remember much of what happened, only recalling people removing her from the auto and being extremely confused. Gibbs said she did not appear to be an OSU student.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Chambers told the lawyer that she only “remembers the end” of the Stillwater homecoming parade.
Adacia Chambers, 25, was initially arrested for DUI after the crash at 10.30am yesterday, but is now charged with four counts of second-degree murder.
“He was loved by students and one of the best teachers we had”, said Ron Elliott, the former head of the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department at OSU. Five adults were listed as critical on Sunday morning.
That guardian angel was one of the people who was killed in the crash, Franklin told KJRH. Police have yet to identify the victims. But then panic ensued.
KOTV reports the fourth fatality victim Prabhakar was an MBA student from the University of Central Oklahoma. He described her as timid and not an alcoholic. “They’re going to paint her into a frightful person, but this is not (her)”, Floyd Chambers told the paper.
Konda Walker, an OSU graduate who was in Stillwater with her sister to celebrate homecoming, said she was only about 50 feet from the crash scene. Family members identified him as Nash Lucas, according to KOTV, a local television station.
Three died at the scene and the child, whose identity was not released, died of his injuries at Oklahoma University Medical Centre Children’s Hospital, Stillwater police said. The school could not immediately be reached to clarify the discrepancy.
