Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.
“Constantine” may have been cancelled by NBC, but fans will get to see the title character again, albeit maybe not in a way they expected.
While Ryan was certainly game to put on his character’s distinctive coat on again for “Arrow“, he told Variety that the experience made him a little sad as he was reminded of the loyal fans who wanted to bring “Constantine” back.
Last season on NBC, the live-action TV adaptation of DC Comics’ Constantine failed to find a large audience and it came to an end mid-story. His schedule nearly prevented him from appearing. I was starting rehearsals for a play [Thérèse Raquin] with Keira Knightley in New York on the first of September. “I love them… Just putting the trenchcoat on for “Arrow” did kind of sadden me a bit”, he admitted. And originally, where the episode sat in the season, I wouldn’t have been able to do it because of my schedule. While Team Arrow’s flashy new computers are no match for whatever is ailing their former ally, Constantine is uniquely qualified to return someone’s soul from wherever souls tend to scamper off to. His knowledge is needed. Now that Sara has returned from the dead but is being affected by the Lazarus Pit, it is time to call in reinforcements. Without going into too much detail, the pit is meant to heal wounds and has even proven effective in curing people who are on the brink of death.
At the end of tonight’s episode of the Arrow, The CW debuted the first trailer for “Haunted”, the next episode of the series which brings Constantine to Star City in an attempt to reunite Sara’s body with her soul. He did tease that Oliver and John do have a past. However, that something was not revealed. She died early on in season three.
“John knows that there are worlds beyond our world, and he is used to dealing with these things on a day-to-day basis”.
Oliver Queen is calling up John Constantine for a favor.
