A Muslim cleric accused of playing a central role in instigating the current Palestinian “wave of terror” in Israel has been challenged to explain why Jews can’t pray at their holiest site, the Temple Mount in old Jerusalem. They would have too much self respect to do so.

While keeping order and security at the Temple Mount and at the Al-Aqsa Mosque is shared jointly by Israel and the Waqf, the tension awards the Palestinian almost total control of who is allowed into the Temple Mount and who isn’t.
Arab Member of Knesset Basel Ghattas (Joint Arab List) decided to visit the Temple Mount on Wednesday, violating a ban on visitation for Israeli lawmakers and declaring that “neither [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu nor the powers of the occupation will prevent Arabs and Muslim believers from realizing their right to pray at Al-Aqsa mosque or any holy Muslim site”. “Jews and Muslims”, he added when pressed to say more, according to a report by the WND.

The Islamists have been stupid in their timing, creating an unnecessary and unreal crisis at a time when the entire Arab world is engaged in destroying itself, as Shi’ites kill Sunnis and Sunnis kill Shi’ites, creating millions upon millions of refugees to top off the hundreds of thousands of Arabs killed during the so-called Arab Spring. Then the dream of a Palestinian state will evaporate forever – because a terrorist Islamic emirate, a twin to the one in the Gaza Strip, will be universally unacceptable. “We want peace, and our hands will remain extended for peace, regardless of what is happening to us”.
This ended my visit to the Temple Mount, from which I learned that if Waqf officials have the authority and ability to decide who gets to visit the compound and who fails to meet the threshold criteria, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is therefore not in danger.
Surveillance video on the Temple Mount is a such a good idea (“Netanyahu: Security cameras on Temple Mount serve Israel’s interests”, October 26) that I wonder why we didn’t think of it ourselves. They were infidels whose deaths were ordered by Allah. Our attempt to claim them as our forefathers, and therefore as assets, is shamefully nothing but stupidity.
