Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.
Seemingly the biggest reason that Papelbon was going to be traded or cut, was because of the fight that took place between himself and Harper; but that’s not a problem anymore.
You would think that, after putting up a season which will nearly certainly lead to him winning the MVP Award, the old game of bashing Bryce Harper as a few sort of immature kid who hasn’t lived up to his hype would become inoperative. Baker pulled away Kent and was overheard yelling in Kent’s face, “Don’t you ever talk that way to me”. As for teaching Harper “how to be a man,” well, I suppose we have to let that one go too because Kettmann doesn’t explain how he is lacking in that regard either.
Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has reached out to teammate Jonathan Papelbon to make amends following their dugout altercation in September, reports Thomas Boswell of The Washington Post.
While that may be true, it’s still hard to see Papelbon being in a Nationals uniform next season.
‘Papelbon and Harper are fine together, ‘ one person inside the Nationals said, referring to Harper’s phone call. ‘Harp just wants to win.
“I wasn’t as good a player as Bryce Harper“, he says. “I’ve never been on a team that didn’t have any”, said Baker, who on Thursday was officially introduced as the Washington Nationals’ next manager.
There has been speculation that Papelbon might be traded during this off-season.
Having both Papelbon and Storen in the bullpen in 2016 would mean less work for Rizzo and co as they try to rebuild their relief corps this winter… but really?
