Michael Clifford of 5 Seconds of Summer fell offstage while performing at Radio 1’s Teen Awards earlier on today. “Wembley arena doesn’t like me much”.
Appearing to hint at the time his hair caught on fire on stage previously, he wrote on Twitter: “WHY DO I ALWAYS HURT MYSELF”.
5 Seconds of Summer were probably feeling on top of the world after nabbing their second consecutive Number 1 album in the USA with their latest effort, Sounds Good Feels Good, exceeding the sales expectations of industry forecasters.
The band had just taken the stage after being introduced by singer Rita Ora and TV presenter Nick Grimshaw when Clifford accidentally walked straight off the stage and plummeted out of sight. On crutches for the next few days. don’t look at me funny pls lolz.
It all happened in a split-second, but Clifford quickly climbed out again to continue the performance without any major Dave Grohl-esque injuries.
He also took to social media to update fans on his condition and thank Radio 1.
Canadian superstar Justin Bieber also made a surprise appearance, performing his hits What Do You Mean?, Where Are U Now and Believe, at the event held at the SSE Wembley Arena.
