“‘Blackstar’ will finally premiere in full on Thursday, November 19, 2015 along with its official accompanying short film”, says a statement this morning from Bowie’s PR people.
The 68-year-old musician’s new 10-minute single “Blackstar” will receive its first play in the clip, directed by Johan Renck, when it is broadcast on Sky Atlantic at 8.45pm. A video trailer for the song can be heard below.
The track was written and sung by Bowie for Sky Atlantic’s new heist drama The Last Panthers which began on Thursday night.
David Bowie revealed three weeks ago that his 25th studio album, titled Blackstar, will be released January 8, his 69th birthday.
Meanwhile, director Danny Boyle has discussed his disappointment after his idea of a David Bowie-themed musical was blocked by the star himself.
The album itself will also allegedly feature a little music from Bowie’s upcoming Michael C. Hall-starring play, Lazarus. Today, Bowie released a 30-second trailer the film, which presumably will itself be something of a trailer for the album.
