Crimson Tide wins Iron Bowl 29-13

Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.

Griffith’s kick sailed over the defensive back’s head and through the uprights with 24 seconds left in the first half in No. 2 Alabama’s 29-13 win over Auburn on Saturday in the Iron Bowl. It was Ito Smith, though, who put the final nails in the Bulldogs’ coffin as the USM back ran for three fourth-quarter touchdowns to turn the game into a rout.

Alabama place kicker Adam Griffith (99) scores after kicking a field goal during an NCAA college football game against Auburn, Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, in Auburn, Ala. But Auburn retaliated quickly, as quarterback Jeremy Johnson hit wide receiver Jason Smith on a 77-yard touchdown pass on a third and long play in which Smith bobbled the ball twice into the air before hauling it in and racing untouched to the end zone. Auburn reels off big gains on the ensuing possession, but stalls out at the Alabama 7 and ends up merely matching the Tide’s field goal.

The Tigers face their toughest challenge of their season against a stingy Crimson Tide defense, and they need to have an effective ground game if they want to pull out the upset this weekend.

Henry tied Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson for the most 200-yard games in a season in SEC history after recording his fourth in his last five conference contests.

“You definitely have to stay focused to try to learn and get better”, Donaldson said.

Auburn drops to 6-6 on the season and will finish the season at the bottom of the SEC West standings.

ON THE LINE: Auburn is hoping to have two starting offensive linemen back before facing Alabama’s formidable front seven.

UA pushed the advantage to 19-6 in the third quarter as Jake Coker made a remarkable escape from pressure and found ArDarius Stewart for a 34-yard touchdown. “They’ve got a lot of good players and they’re all capable of making the play, but certainly that play reminded me of the play they made against Georgia”.

Alabama ends the first half with, yes, a field goal – its fourth, the sixth overall, of the half. Henry moves with much more agility, than a 6-foot-3, 242-pound man should.

“This was a tough game today and we expected it to be tough”, Saban said.

“It’s going to be interesting at my house when the game is on, I can say that”, Lloyd said.

Alabama took a 12-6 lead into halftime. It was an unreal play at a time when Auburn needed a shot in the arm so badly. “The leadership on the team has been very, very good, and we also have players on the team that respond to leadership”. At a school with 15 national championships, that kind of season counts as a disappointment. Henry has rushed for 1,796 yards and has two games to play.

However, toughing out 46 carries is a Heisman statement of its own, the 267 yards just the cherry on top.

Alabama has won seven straight games against SEC teams since the loss to Ole Miss, outscoring those teams by an average margin of 31-14.

Nevertheless, in the bowels of Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, Saban admitted this team has the leadership several of his past Alabama teams lacked.
