Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.

Oakland’s offense went three-and-out on the drive that immediately followed, but the next time San Diego got the ball, Malcolm Smith forced a fumble that Benson Mayowa recovered and took to the 3-yard line to set up the Raiders’ touchdown that gave them a 20-17 lead.

Linebacker Ben Heaney of the Oakland Raiders celebrates after their win in overtime against the San … But the St. Louis Rams have a Los Angeles stadium plan of their own, and there isn’t room in Los Angeles for two stadiums. Oakland Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson (24) reacts during the first half of an NFL football game against the San Diego Chargers in Oakland, Calif., Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. “Rai-ders!” chant one final time. On third-and-8 from the San Diego 43, Carr completed a 33-yard pass to wide receiver Seth Roberts, giving Oakland a first down at the 10 and setting up Janikowski’s chip shot.

Woodson’s influence will last, as Del Rio said.

San Diego falls to 4-11.

-K Sebastian Janikowski made his 52nd field goal of at least 50 yards, tying Jason Hanson for the National Football League record Thursday night against San Diego. “But I am proud of how we hung in there and made some plays at the end. I’m glad we got him a win”. When guys do down, someone’s got to step up. “It’s good for it to be this night, a night where it’s my last game in the Coliseum to have the dramatics but come out with the win”. We never practiced that, though, in terms of who was going to be out there.

“I’m negative-three yards in the rushing department”, Woodson said of his new career mark. Crucial points that sent the game into overtime after the Chargers drove down the field in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. “Doesn’t make it any easier losing another one like that”. Neither one of these teams will be making the playoffs this year, so this was more of a pride game than anything.

Woodson got a chance to speak to the crowd after the victory, and most everyone was still in their seats.

What was Woodson’s final game in Oakland – and might have been the last for the Raiders as well – was far from pretty but it ended in a victory. The Chargers took a 7-0 lead with 9:09 left in the first quarter.

The Chargers led for the majority of the game but fell behind in the 4 quarter when Derek Carr hit Michael Crabtree for a 3-yard touchdown.

“It’s a great place to see a game”, said Bob Gibson, a gas pump mechanic from Livermore whose first Raiders game was at Frank Youell Field in 1964. Otherwise, Crabtree’s second half of the season slump continued, as he averaged fewer than 10 yards per catch for the fifth time in his past six games. Oakland built a 31-point lead and held off a furious comeback to knock off the host Chargers 37-29 on October 25. “I’m not sure what it was, but something said it was time and I knew it in that instant that it was over”, added Woodson, who finished the game with a pair of tackles.

Woodson’s script has included 18 years, a Defensive Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl title among a litany of other distinctions.
