Since things didn’t go so well for him with the Vikings in 2013, he’s been bouncing around the NFL.

The Colts have signed free agent quarterback Josh Freeman with their top three options injured or out altogether.

At the same time, with the way Colts quarterbacks are getting hurt, Freeman may have a shot to make it back and stick in the NFL. Lindley is the third quarterback that the Colts signed in two weeks with the signing of Stephen Morris last week.

Right now, it’s unclear who the Colts will have start next Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans at quarterback.

Indianapolis also promoted linebacker Amarlo Herrera from the practice squad on Tuesday, while placing fellow linebacker Josh McNary on injured reserve. Most recently, Freeman played with Fall Experimental Football League’s Brooklyn Bolts. Despite the disaster, that is the Colts’ quarterback situation, they’re still technically alive in the AFC South, although they’re nearly certainly going to be eliminated even if they somehow find a way to win on Sunday. Lindley also started one postseason game for the Cardinals.

Lindley was with the New England Patriots during training camp earlier this season before he was waived September 4. In his career, Freeman has played in 61 career games and has completed 1,164 of 2,020 passes for 13,724 yards, 80 touchdowns, and 67 interceptions for a passer rating of 77.8.

It was a good way to end a day in which the Colts announced Matt Hasselbeck has an AC joint sprain, all but ending his season, while placing Charlie Whitehurst and guard Hugh Thornton on injured reserve.
