The Danish investment services Saxo Bank specializing in providing online trading services announced the launching of a co-branded Introducing Broker (IB) partnership with the Maltese commercial bank Bank of Valletta.
Under the partnership Bank of Valletta will be using the technology of Saxo Bank’s SaxoTraderGO online trading platform, as well as the market data, provided by the Danish company. The platform, named e-Trader+ powered by Saxo Bank and co-branded with the logo of the two companies, lets investors – both retail and institutional – to trade in a wide array of instruments across mobile and desktop platforms. They can set up their own customizable watch list, create a dedicated order ticket or trade directly from a share price chart in real time. The platform offers complete functionality across the trade cycle – from pre-trade, execution and post-trade services for ETFs and cash stocks with potential further expansion to other asset classes.

Kenneth Farrugia, Chief Business Development Officer at Bank of Valletta noted that the new partnership would offer an alternative channel to active traders and would strengthen the bank’s position as a market leader in Malta. “In collaborating with Saxo Bank, we are putting the investor in the driving seat by providing access to a robust trading platform and passing across the cost benefits,” Farrugia said.
Saxo Bank, founded in Copenhagen in 1992, is a brokerage firm and a market maker. It holds a banking license from Denmark’s Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA). It offers trading in more than 30,000 instruments, including forex, binary options, CFDs, stocks, futures, and bonds through its proprietary online trading platforms SaxoTrader and SaxoTraderGO.
Bank of Valletta is the largest commercial bank in Malta. Besides the standard consumer banking services, it provides investment banking and fund management services, bank assurance and stockbroking.
