Saxo Bank adds VIX weekly options, paid market data subscriptions, improves platforms

Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.

Saxo Bank, the Danish online trading services provider, announced its list of monthly product updates for March. They include weekly options on the VIX volatility index, upgrades to Saxo Bank’s SaxoTraderGO online trading platform, the possibility to add contract options and stock options to a watch list in SaxoTrader and the introduction of separate paid subscriptions to a number of real-time market data instruments.

Weekly options on VIX

Saxo Bank has expanded its offering of VIX volatility index options by adding weekly options. Thus the users of all Saxo Bank platforms would be able to trade volatility on a short term, rather than monthly or longer dated options. The weekly expirations are listed on Thursdays and expire on the following Wednesday. The last trading day, however, is on the business day before the expiration date. The VIX index uses prices on the S&P 500 Index (SPX) options.

  • Broadcast notifications

Saxo Bank has added Broadcast messages to the notification types. They can appear as popups and chat messages. While online, the traders will receive the notifications instantly, while those who are offline will see them once they log into the platform.

  • New chart features

    – New Price Channel study: lines set above and below the price of an instrument. The upper line is set at the x-period high and the lower – at the x-period low.

    – Annotations: The alphabetic order has been changed to a more logical order – Lines, Fibonacci, Figures, Measure tools and Texts. The Infinite trendline has been added to the Annotations menu.

    – Collapsible panels and main window: the panels and the main window in charts can now be collapsed.

    – Movable configuration settings for studies and annotations: configuration dialog for both studies and annotations can now be moved around the screen.

Contract options in SaxoTrader

Contract Options and Stock Options can now be added to a Watchlist in SaxoTrader. The new trading platform feature will be rolled out on March 8, 2016.
