FxPro discontinues support for MT4 client terminal builds below 940

The UK forex broker FxPro announced it will discontinue support for older builds of MetaTrader 4 (MT4) client terminals, namely builds below 940. The change will come into effect on July 1, Friday.

“As a result, unsupported terminal builds will not be able to connect to new server versions,“ the broker said and urged its clients to update their trading terminals.

A similar announcement was made on Monday by one of the major forex brokers operating in Russia – FreshForex.

In May FxPro introduced a new type of trading account with market order execution for MT4. Earlier the broker updated its MT4 web terminal and added the option for direct login.

MT4 remains the most popular trading platform and is used by many forex brokers, in spite the recent efforts of its developer MetaQuotes Software to promote MetaTrader 5 and its growing popularity.

Recently MT4 made a significant breakthrough on the Japanese market, traditionally dominated by the proprietary trading platforms of the local forex brokers, with Rakuten Securities announcing that it will make it available to its clients as of end of August.

Meanwhile, FxPro has joined the ranks of forex brokers who took measures against the market volatility surrounding UK’s referendum on its EU membership and temporarily set different margins for GBP forex pairs, with margin requirements for exotic GBP pairs reaching up to 8%.

FxPro is an online broker, regulated by by Cyprus’ Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) and UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
