Canada’s Questrade adds PIN security for traders

Do not invest more money than you can afford to lose.

Canadian multi-asset financial brokerage Questrade said on Monday it is introducing to clients the option to use a personal identification number (PIN) when dealing with their trading accounts. Its use is optional and can be turned on or off at any time.

The use of PIN, coupled with traders’ account number and security questions, will ensure increased security, as well as provide foundation for further security upgrades in the future. PINs can easily be   changed whenever needed.

PINs will not only increase security for traders, but will also save them time when contacting Questrade. The broker will more easily identify and serve clients who use PINs, reducing the number of required security questions.

PINs are commonly used in Canada and Qestrade expects they should be well received by clients as a security tool.

Traders can set up a PIN number for their Questrade accounts in a few easy steps:

  1. Log in to Questrade
  2. From the drop-down menu under your name, click or tap Profile
  3. Click or tap Edit in the top right corner
  4. Enter the digits for your PIN at the top of the screen
  5. Click or tap Save

Toronto-based Questrade offers trading in forex, stocks, precious metals, options, bonds, exchange-traded fund (ETF). It is a member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada and the Canadian Investor Protection Fund.

Questrade is a subsidiaries of Questrade Financial Group, which also owns portfolio manager Questrade Wealth Management Inc.
